Jo Anneke Mückel

*2000 in Hamburg, Germany

Jo Anneke Mückel alienates well-known everyday objects, such as a sewing needle, a safety pin, staples or paper clips, by changing their shape, size, structure and materiality. Although the works are simple, minimalist and highly reduced, the monumental representation awakens new associations – the form is seen in a new way. Some of the objects appear threatening and, by withdrawing their original handling, trigger admiration and discomfort at the same time.
